# Search

> Find contacts, operations, parcels, and farms from the map search menu.

Map Search is the single entry point for finding anything in CamoAg. One search bar looks across **Contacts**, **Operations**, **Parcels**, and **Farms**, plots the matches on the map, and lists them below the search bar.

  Press **⌘ + K** (Mac) or **Ctrl + /** (Windows) from anywhere on the map to jump straight to the search bar.

## What you can search for

The search bar accepts more than names. If you're not sure where to start, the **Search Examples** list under the search bar has a tappable example of each type.

Addresses, places, and coordinates recenter the map on that spot. Names and parcel IDs run a search and return results across your active layers.

Your last searches are saved under **Recent Searches**, so you can pick one back up without retyping it.

## Search scope

The scope selector controls how wide the search goes.

    Limits results to the area currently displayed on the map. Pan or zoom the map and a **Search this area** button appears at the top of the map — select it to rerun your search against the new view.

<Note>
  Set one or more **[Default Locations](/account-settings/personalizing-your-account#setting-default-map-locations)** under **Account > Account Settings** so the map opens on your preferred counties. This makes **This area** searches useful immediately.

### Search an area

  <Step>Set the scope selector to **This area**.</Step>
  <Step>Enter an address, coordinates, town, county, or state into the search bar to move the map there.</Step>
  <Step>Clear the search bar.</Step>
  <Step>Enter what you're looking for (for example, `John Smith`).</Step>

## Choosing what to search

Above the toolbar, a toggle button for each searchable layer controls which record types are included and which markers are drawn on the map:

* **Contacts** — people in your CRM, shown as customer or prospect pins.
* **Operations** — farm operations, including platform operations not yet in your CRM.
* **Parcels** — parcel boundaries with owner-name labels.
* **Farms** — farms your organization has created.

Turn off a layer to drop it from both the map and the results list. Results are grouped by type, so you can scan Contacts, Operations, Parcels, and Farms separately.

  Contacts, Operations, and Farms require a CamoAg Core subscription. Without it, search returns Parcels only.

## Filters

Select **Filters** in the search toolbar to narrow results. The badge on the button shows how many filters are currently applied.

**County** sits at the top and applies to every layer. If you've saved Default Locations, **+ Add default location(s)** fills them in for you.

Below it, each active layer has its own filter section:

Only layers you've turned on appear in the panel. Select **Apply** to run the filtered search, or **Clear** to reset the filters on the active layers.

## Settings

Select **Settings** in the toolbar to set the **Search Results Limit** — how many results each layer returns. Choose 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100. A lower limit keeps the map readable in dense areas; a higher limit is useful when you're working through a full list.

## Keyboard navigation

While the search dropdown is open:

* **↑ / ↓** move through suggestions
* **Enter** selects the highlighted suggestion, or runs your text as a search
* **Esc** closes the dropdown
